An exhibition of more than 70 paintings
An artist opening and reception will be held Saturday, September 7th, 1-6pm at Gallery C, 66 East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310.
One of Akron, Ohio's century old buildings has become Gallery C, a venue for contemporary art. The building began as a North Hill neighborhood hardware store, with a family-run storefront with living quarters above. A tunnel ran from the back of the building on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue to a residential home behind the building, which was demolished in the 1960s and is now a small parking lot for Gallery C. Street car tracks ran in front until the 1930s, when electric trolleys were phased out in Akron. North Hill is now Akron's International District, home to a growing population of immigrants from many countries.
Gallery C is comprised of 9 rooms and still has its original tin ceilings and maple hardwood floors. The building housed a marketing communications / advertising agency from 1984 until 2016. It is now Gallery C and will exhibit over 70 paintings of Akron artist, Steve Caler. The exhibition of paintings opens Saturday, September 7th and runs until mid December.
